Convoluted, Out-of-Date Product

I moved to this software thinking that I was getting a more up to date product than what I was currently using. WRONG. This is the most convoluted and hard to use software that I have ever used. I would not recommend this at all. Customization is not easy in fact there really is not any. I felt like during the implementation that my contact did not "hear" me and my needs. They had a certain way they wanted to do things and that is what we did...her way.  I will be going back to the product that I used previously for my AMS when my contract is over with the product.

Had high hopes for this after moving several clients from Yourmembership.  Getting reports I need are next to impossible and members trying to access and pay dues is complicated.  Currently looking to move again.

We recently switched multiple clients over to StarChapter. This decision was based on a few factors, one being price and the other being use of use for volunteers. StarChapter has all the bells and whistles of other AMS's but is priced more for nonprofits. For those of us that work with volunteers, we know that trying to teach them how to utilize the back-end of a website can be difficult. With StarChapter this process is seamless, updating pages is easy. They also offer to all administrators access to video tutorials and FAQ's. This system allows us to manage membership, events, sponsorships, enews, emails and much more.

StarChapter has been easy to use and the right price for our very small (less than 100 member) association. We are able to integrate credit card payments (although we pay an exorbitant fee which would be less if we used Eventbrite). But, the look of our template is very out-dated, we are unable to incorporate social media like FB and Instagram which we need to attract members. (Our industry is very visual based). And, our event invitations and newsletter options are very staid. We can't format images with wrap around text in our invites, we have very few font options and then when the monthly event appears on the homepage, it doesn't translate visually. It is also very hard to navigate to the actual registration page from the homepage. We need something at the same price, which may do less with a member database; but, will look more releavant.

We Are Tired of Wasting Time - Need To Make A Switch!

We brought on an Association in January who had just started using StarChapter about six months prior. Unfortunately, the additional time and effort it takes to fix glitches in the system tack on hours and hours of unnecessary work. Instead of simplifying our ability to manage the membership of this organization, we're constantly apologizing to our members for things that have gone wrong with the system. The functionality is not where it needs to be and every time we ask about how to implement an easier way to do certain things, we receive a, "we're going to keep that in mind for the future" response. It has been incredibly frustrating and we're looking forward to finding a more reliable solution for our AMC. I would not recommend StarChapter for organizations with complex membership structures who have a variety of dues structures that need to be easily adjusted. I can only speak for us, but it may work for simpler, smaller groups who don't need additional tailored functionality.

As a small chapter of a nation-wide association I know we do not use Star Chapter to its fullest potential. This is the first AMS software product we've used so I've nothing to compare experiences with and our national office manages the database for its components, so that limits my experience as well. I find the software relatively easy to use and the company continues to update and improve its functions.
