I have used Wild Apricot for about a year. If you are needing a very simple AMS that is not too expensive this might work for you. You don't have a lot of customization options. The meeting/event module is mediocre. It does not import well into Quickbooks. You cannot bulk print invoices. You have to print them one at a time and it is a painstaking task as several steps are involved. There is not an option to print statements. This AMS is geared towards everything being online, which is not a bad thing except not all my members like to do everything online. They need actual printed invoices to submit to be paid. The only reason I have not switched to something more robust is because it fits within my very low budget.

I'm on the BOD of an association that is currently using Wild Apricot to do our billing only.  We are not using it as our website but we are considering that in the future.  I was able to set up the billing and hook it into our existing website, which is WordPress.  

THe customization was a little quirky, but I was able to figure out the templates and widgets.  It only took me a couple of hours to totally revise the two or three pages we needed to set up our billing and member benefits pages.  

We are a relatively small association and the product works very well for us.  I can't speak to how it would work for larger assoiciations, but it does everything we want.

Wild Apricot is okay if you are an organization with limited needs. However, if you need to track membership data, need an attractive and compelling event site, and an audit trail for financial transactions, stay away from this product.

I work for an association management company who currently has 5 accounts with Wild Apricot. We've been customers with them for almost ten years. To be honest, the only reason we stayed customers (apart from cost, which is at the lower end of the scale) is because I'm an applications engineer and I was able to create a multitude of workarounds to make Wild Apricot more robust. Another issue I've noticed is that when they make fundamental changes to the software, they don't poll their customers to see if it would be a good change or not, and they don't build in a kill switch when they create new features or changes that might affect some of their customers negatively. This is really the reason why we're in the market for a new AMS - their recent policies have been disasterous for us.

All-in-all, Wild Apricot is a solid, reliable, basic system suitable for small associations and groups that don't need all of the bells and whistles.

My main issue with Wild Apricot isn't totally their fault - I run a trade organization where my members are businesses. Wild Apricot can be utilized that way, but it was clearly not intended to do so.

Lack of integration with Quickbooks is an issue.

Having said that, it would probably work well for a professional organization or other individual/family membership organization.

As a Wild Apricot consulting partner, we have implemented Wild Apricot for 20+ associations and clubs. Wild Apricot we find is a great mix of both ease of use, affordability and a good fit for smaller sized associations and clubs. We also find it can be used in unusual situations like condo owner associations where there is less around membership management and more around community building.

We appreciate how Wild Apricot works and supports customers. Their customer support is exceptional both online, email and via phone. The help documentation is updated, concise and very detailed. We really appreciate the modular and generic nature of the system. There is not just 1 way to do something and Wild Apricot can be extended!

It turns out that the API that powers their mobile apps is the secret sauce. Using the API an untold amount of customizations are possible including:

1. Working with other systems like certificate generation for accrediation

2. Total customization of the website aimed at members and the public

3. Custom reporting for single and multi-chapter support

What's great is that the API is an industry standard REST API and can be used in a variety of integration situations. Wild Apricot has a long way to grow to compete with the big association management systems, but it will get there! And in the meantime it's a terrific solution for organizations with under 15,000 contacts/members.

Wild Apricot is the only affordable solution for our association that enables us to have a shared directory and knowledge center for all our members across the county AND individual websites for the multiple chapters our members belong to. We can do it because of the flexible, easy to use gadgets that enable us to use a single database but build a robust site with multiple levels of navigation.  We got a little help at the beginning but now handle the system on our own, adding new Chapters as we grow.

We went with Wild Apricot because at the time it had everything we needed on the surface. We went through the 30 day trial, created the website, and bit the bullet at paid for a year.

for the most part it still does everything we want, but this year there was an increase of price, and features we are finding we need aren’t there. Customer support is good, but the development time for features is based on the wishlist on their forum.. just like any software company, features that have the highest number of votes gets added to the development queue. That doesn’t mean that they will be implemented right away, just that the feature is on their radar.

they have also created their own payment system through Affinipay called Wild Apricot payments, which in the long term should be good, but our loss of accepting Debit (Interac) is stinging.

creating email blasts isn’t very intuitive, and although a website can be customized, there is still some parts that can’t be under the hood.

overall, we are happy with Wild Apricot, but we have to look at the cost vs value next year when the price increase takes affect for us.

We have found Wild Apricot to be a good fit for our organization. We are fairly small with about 100 members and 10 events annually. The integrated communications is helpful and easy to use. The website is fairly easy to set up, though it helps to know a good deal of CSS if you want to modify the templates. There seems to be enough flexibilty in the event settings to accomodate our event types. I'd recommend it for smaller organzations that have limited technical skills on staff or among their volunteers.

We use this software for a few small associations. It works for them. It is easy to use and build and has the basic association management tools: dues, meeting registration, simple reporting, website, some analytics. Would recommend for smaller associations with small staff for sure.

WildApricot has its pros and cons. Pros being that it is (1) easy to use, (2) it has everything in one spot, and (3) is relatively cheap. There are cons to all of these. (1) The product is almost TOO easy to use. It can be very limiting with how you want things to look, unless you know code. I get frustrated at the unappealing template for the events. (2) Because everything is in one spot, you are limited in size. We have a plan of 250 contacts and have to constantly archive old contacts to stay under that number. We can jump up to the next plan to increase our contacts, but that would also double our price. (3) WildApricot has really gone up in price over the last couple of years. We are currently grandfathered in at $25/month, but that will go up to $40/month in a couple months. The next plan up to increase our contact size is $70/month. That's $840 for a very small non-profit!

After researching many option, we chose Wild Apricot as our first AMS because it had most features we wanted and was so affordable. The event management function is really great - especially for our complicated pricing structure. It's easy for one person to register multiple people for an event, including add-on tickets for meals and pre-conference workshops. Ultimately, we couldn't get it to work for us for membership renewals, so we're on the hunt for something new.

Wild Apricot is awesome for managing all the details of a small organization and it is affordable on smaller budgets with no IT staff. It is truly easy to build a nice looking and functional website with the system. All the modules integrate easily and all updates to the system work together. Wild Apricot has a great support team! They know their market is small staff without the big IT department team so they are patient and very responsive. They also have one of the best and well organized help sections for us do-it-yourself folks. Lots of fast and quick-to-the-point videos as well as step-by-step instructions. It took me about 15-20 hours to create a site, implement all the membership, events, financial, recruitment, communication and fundraising components. It took me a bit longer to sort out my data to import from the various systems I was using before. How you setup your data fields for importing is really important so spend some time there (and if you get it wrong, you can fix it later but better to get it right to start). What I pay for Wild Apricot is less expensive than what I was paying to have seperate software programs manage all the different components. If you want to consider the time savings.... WOW! Sometimes we just don't recognize how much time we spend on inefficient systems until we have something to compare to. This is a great platform to free up time (and save money) for small organizations. Maybe the big boys have bigger needs but for those of us with less than 15,000 contacts in the database and budgets under $300,000 this system is magic! It would work for bigger budgets and bigger memberships but maybe at that point, there are other considerations - I don't really know. What I do know is that I can organize all my committees, group members by tags and activities, email them what they need through the system and give them access to specific site areas to handle the work of the organization, in addition to all the other standard functions and a great website that come with the platform (for under $300 a month). I was paying more for less functionality before I implemented Wild Apricot. We are now humming along and have more time to focus on our mission. I hope other small organizations can find their way out of the fog (been there!) and spend more time advancing their mission too. After all, that is why we work in this profession!

Using Wild Apricot (WA) to build a functional site for small, community based non-profit organization. This is a good system for those with a (very) limited budget, who need a basic member management solution. While there is a free version, it is only suitable for the most basic functions (ie: limited contact capacity, no recurring payments). At that point, if "Free" is still the primary driver, you'd probably be better served using one of the other popular CMS platforms (WordPress, Weebly, etc...) to have more creative flexibility. The other main point of consideration is to understand what you expect from your site. While "easy to use" is a relative term, this platform could require a lot of time to setup yourself, which is very doable, if you have some experience with this type of thing. Inexperienced users may become frustrated, but fortunately, if you don't mind rigid templates, this could be the right solution for you as well. Manage your expectations. On the flip side, there are some really useful features available that might come as a surprise in this class of system (Wait List, timed auto-renewal emails). As expected, the more expensive subscription options offer more access to features and greater capacity, but WA is definitely worth a look. They offer a 30-day trial, so you can get your hands dirty almost immediately to see if this will meet your needs, so again, a little time and elbow grease will have you off and running. Good Luck.

This product is very static and difficult to customize. The organization I worked for used it as an online directory. It did not interface well with other software (e.g. Quickbooks) and lacked the flexibility needed to perform routine maintenance (e.g. updating membership records in bulk). I would not recommend this software to any organization that has even marginal expectations for modernizing their current processes.

If you have just started and are planning to stay fairly small (e.g. a few hundred to a few thousand mostly individual members), then Wild Apricot MIGHT be for you. Keep in mind that: 1. Whatever features you see is very much what you'll get. An aggressive sales person might promise you something else, as they did for us, but don't count on it. 2. The product offers only a very basic AMS functionality with very little if any support of organizational membership (e.g. having a delegated membership manager and then a delegated dues manager (e.g. the person who will pay the bills). 3. As your association grows, you will end up having to integrate Wild Apricot into other systems that you end up offering to your members. Forget it! This is where Wild Apricot support will bow out on you: "Sorry. We don't do and don't plan to do that..." Hence, you will find yourself with Wild Apricot in your hands and no path forward: "Now what?" Now...nothing. You have grown up beyond what Wild Apricot can give you. Time to migrate (e.g. spend more money you might not have). Hence is my recommendation: start with as solid solution as possible--one that will grow with you. Do not be left at the mercy of the "What You See Is What You [Don't] Get" little vendors. Here is one "dirty secret" that no SaaS AMS vendor like Wild Apricot or AMO wants you to know: CiviCRM, an open-source product you can download for free, a product with an extensive user base and enthusiastic knowledgeable development and consulting community, is WAY BETTER, right out of the box, than what these paid services offer you. I have spent thousands of dollars to learn this. If you read this carefully, you will save as much.

Lots of Good Stuff - and Some Issues Too

Wild Apricot has a lot of features for a small association's needs (ours has about 2500 records), but a year after implementation we only use a few at this time. Implementation is very easy if your data is well organized. If it isn't, then implementation will be as complex as the problems with your data make it. I highly recommend learning how Wild Apricot is structured and taking your time to plan how your organization will use what it has to offer to your best advantage. Then do as much data hygiene as possible before you upload. That process is pretty slick, as is downloading and other basic functions. I would rate Wild Apricot's database fairly high for functionality and reliability. Reports could be better, but a lot of that has to do with how you organize data in the first place. We have used the email and newsletter functions as well. The email works well as long as your needs are modest. However, both the email and newsletter templates are extremely limited in their functionality and flexibility - and they can be "buggie" and unstable, e.g., constantly reverting to pre-set formats, refusing to accept changes, disallowing basic formatting things like adding/removing blank lines, professing to be WYSIWYG but that not actually be 100% true, etc. If you are familiar with how Mail Chimp templates behaved 5 years ago, these quirks are even a bit worse than those were. We use the email function pretty regularly, and so we have learned keep it simple. When we want to do a newsletter or anything more complex, we send an email through Wild Apricot (so that bounce backs, tracking, etc., are coordinated with the database) but the email contains a link to the publication which we created in a different program. I am not happy about this as we are having to pay for both programs, but it is the best we can do for the moment. Wild Apricot boasts other features such as basic website integration, discussion groups, etc. Both because our current website is pretty functional and because of the frustrations with the email/newsletter templates, we have not even considered using these functions yet. I do hope to implement online payments and integration with Quick Books later this year. Both of these things were important to us when we chose the software, but we have had to get the basics done first. Support is certainly better than other platforms I've used, but you won't want to be in any kind of a hurry if you need help. Once you get past the basics, they can be painfully slow and/or they will sometimes admit your bug is a problem but won't have a fix for it. Perhaps, eventually, they'll address it in a new iteration of the software - a small comfort when you have an issue NOW. To Wild Apricot's credit, they are constantly improving and upgrading. So I am hopeful that the things that most irritate me will be addressed eventually. They have also just introduced a sizable price increase, which they claim is the first in many years and justify because of the all the bells and whistles they've added. The old, lower price was also a reason we chose Wild Apricot. It is still more affordable than several others.

We just switched from MembersClicks to WildApricot. Much more user friendly AMS. Excellent and easy to use conference registration package. Member management excellent, built in everything from invoicing to collections, donations, etc. Worth doing their 30 day trill to check it out. The structure of Wild Apricot's online payment processing is very easy but unfortunately it feels as if you have to go through a few hoops to provide your credit card information. For our members, I worry about them being turned off by having to click a button to generate an invoice, then click another button to move forward, click again to pay the invoice and then once more a click to pay. While this was very cost effective ($1000 give or take a year) they have significantly raised their prices this week with no additional improvements or ease in payment processing to the member.
