What you see is what you get - for small organizations this may be fine. Do not expect great reporting or customization's - and the web platform is a usability nightmare if you have complex content and needs.

It is a good platform for smaller associations that do not require a sophisticated AMS. It is not really customizable to our specific needs. There is less automation than our previous platform that was purchased by YourMembership.

We launched YM as our AMS in 2011. At that time, my impression was quite positive. It would serve as our organization's web-platform as well as our backend AMS. The folks at YM delivered on their promises of ease of transition from another provider, quick roll out schedule, etc. Their customer service has been really admirable for the most part, although recently I do see some slippage in their response times to support tickets. I'm guessing that wouldn't be true if we used their phone option, but I submit everything online rather than asking for a call. We chose YM because we wanted to exploit the community/social media functionality it offered, but the reality is that our members just don't use it, even though they are quite tech savvy. We've done some customization using their APIs and our tech people have been fairly pleased with the ease of that process. Overall, YM has been solid and reliable, and we plan to continue using it for the foreseeable future.

Our association was forced to upgrade or change our AMS after nearly 20 years to keep pace with upgrades to Microsoft's PC and network operating systems. We could afford the licensing and support costs of iMIS, so we searched for other options. Initially, we selected Affiniscape, which was the choice of a national committee of executives from similar associations. However, Affiniscape later was acquired by Yourmembership, (YM) and we had to choose between migrating to YM or switching to another AMS. We opted to stick with YM. While we were satisfied with its features, frankly, the pricing incentive offered by YM was the deciding factor. That being said, we are happy with our choice. Our staff finds the cloud-based software to be reliable, quick and relatively easy to use. There is a lot to learn and remember, so it has taken a while to memorize the most common processes, but the overall sentiment of our staff is very positive. The very responsive YM support team made a huge difference. The support has been extensive, especially in regards to customizing YM to our particular needs, and, best if all, the support has been free. YM offers free online training, including live and recorded webinars.(mostly recorded webinars, that are very effective in explaining the various software features.

We moved from IMIS to YM two and a half years ago. We were challenged with the fact that the majority of staff who use the system were hired a few months after implementation (including me). There are no reference manuals or in person training. Everything is web based. There is no ability to customize - it is a one size fits all. This requires a lot of manipulation of data between spreadsheets. We are unable to track CME which is a big need for our member records. There is no easy way to reconcile the financials between YM and our financial system, MIP. In addition, you are REQUIRED to use Blue Pay as your merchant processor which leaves no ability to negotiate between vendors for competitive rates. On the other hand, it is fairly user friendly for inputting data and searching records.

The product is a decent value but is lacking in many features such as the ability to instantly print name badges and mailing address labels. You have to export lists and then merge in word or another program. It can't calculate sales tax at the county level (only for states or countries). The reporting is buggy. We've had multiple problems with reports that have taken 2-3 months to fix. It also doesn't truly maintain an unsubscribe list.

Their web content manager is horrific. 1) Every page is on the same level, as they do not allow for categories or sub-structures like a normal content CMS would; 2) Their version of HTML is NOT HTML and it is very clunky.

I would have recommended YourMembership about two years ago. But since they took over Affiniscape, their customer service has been sloppy, their product has greatly suffered, and the experience that we have had with them has been less then stellar. I know that in the grand scheme of things they aren't top of the line, but I would have hoped to have been provided with a better product and service for the money. I wouldn't recommend YourMembership at this point in time - they took on too much too soon and the lack of quality shows in all aspects. Buyer beware - you don't even get what you pay for from them.

This was a great system that had the "ability" to integrate and had an all in one of the box product (meaning website and ams combined). What we found was that the customization that was offered was through special fields that would not be included in report queries. You can't change the labels to suit your members needs, your only option is to create custom fields. We like that there are product enhancements that are released fairly often, but as we wait for enhancements we always need to find a work-around. All systems have their pluses and minuses.

I Wish Affiniscape Still Existed

As many know, Affiniscape was purchased by Your Membership, thus prompting hundreds of Associations to consider whether to move to YM or seek a different solution. We've been deeply engaged in that search, looking at Member Clicks, Member Suite, Avectra, IMIS, Weblink, Timberlake and more. What we've learned is that we had a pretty solid arrangement with Affiniscape - a fairly advanced product in the lower end of the price structure and that comparable products are rare. We will not be switching to YM for a couple of major reasons. The most significant is has to do with challenges in creating invoices -- if you do a lot of sponsorships and advertising and want to create invoices for those purchases, YM is a challenge. Additionally, when creating invoices or completing transactions, YM doesn't allow for a drop down menu with GL codes. Thus you have to know your chart of accounts and manually type in the GL codes when creating an invoice, for example. Yet another example of a tool we used but will lose is the ability for an address change to flow through to the children of the parent (and Affiniscape actually allowed us to choose for which children the address changed).

yourmembership.com is a great middle-of-the-road option for a small-staff association

We started with yourmembership.com (YM) in the second half of 2012. Since then we've had a mostly positive experience with the product. Implementation went very smoothly, and it was easy to figure out how to move our data over. We did hire a consultant to help us...I don't think it would have gone as smoothly otherwise. We were also happy with the front-end implementation. YM offers this in addition to its back-end database, and these work smoothly together. The biggest positives of YM are its very easy learning curve, its user-friendly interface, and its reliability. The staff who use the AMS have little to no developer experience, and it has been easy for them to interact with the database. It's easy to figure out where you need to go for different functions. It has also been quite reliable. Usually when there is an error (with a membership payment, etc) it is because there is something not set up correctly on our end. We haven't gone through any outages, and we really like this. I would say the most frustrating thing we've dealt with has been the tie-in with BluePay. YM says that this is their "preferred" credit card provider, but we have had numerous issues with reconciliation problems. Another frustrating element is the bulk email system that YM employs. It is quite dated, and it offers pretty much no form of metrics/stats tracking of email campaigns sent. Finally, when we first started with YM, the customer service was great. We had direct access to our account rep, and he was able to take our (many) questions all of the time. Now YM makes all of its customers use a support-ticket format for questions or issues. Sometimes these are not answered in a very timely manner, or they might not really answer the question. We've found that the most useful way to use this system is to place a support ticket in for a future support telephone call. Overall our experience has been positive. Would recommend to others.

I can't speak much yet to YourMembership because we haven't moved to that platform from Members360 (and Affiniscape) but I can share that the process to move us from one system to the other, required because M360 will no longer be supported after June 30, 2014, has been ABYSMAL. Broken promises, missed deadlines with no word on why, questions that go into a black hole with no response for weeks, it goes on and on. We are extremely disappointed, as we had a wonderful experience with Affiniscape and recommended them to numerous colleagues. Their product was good - their customer service and support was OUTSTANDING. And now we're forced to completely restart the process of finding a new AMS unless we want to wade into the very murky water of YourMembership, which appears less and less likely as time goes on.

We chose YM because of its ability to handle the database and website together, as a single unit. Well, that, and it's cost effective. It does handle a lot of what we need for our small association, but seems to have some fundamental flaws that cause strife among the staff. 1. At its core, YM is designed to keep members and non-members separately. There are two separate databases in the system, and they don't *really* talk to each other well. For instance, when a person registers for a meeting, if they either don't have an existing profile, or they don't login to it before they register, a new record is created in a different database. While you can run rosters that will include people from both "sides" of the system, you can't use the built-in email system to pick registrants from both sides at the same time. Sound confusing? That's because it is, and it's been a major hassle for us. You can create a "member" record, even though a person is a non-member, and tie that registration to that new record, but it's several extra steps for staff. 2. One thing that has bothered us from the beginning is the lack of committee tracking. Committee are tracked using the Groups functionality, which is nice, and allows them to collaborate. But, there is no date associated with committee participation, nor is there a way to track their position in the committee (president, treasurer, secretary, etc.). Both are hugely important. Without the dates, we need to manually add and remove people from the groups when the term changes, and then manually create a demographic to indicate historical service. It's a major flaw, and we've been asking them to fix it for over a year. We've heard it's a high priority, but still have yet to see a change. 3. My personal opinion is that their acquisition in December '12 has overwhelmed them and they just can't keep up with anything. I will say that the staff is overall very nice and generally helpful. They are just overwhelmed.

Affiniscape is now Yourmembership.com and i am yet to see how this system works and is different. Some of the frustrations with affiniscape would be the limited parts of building events and running reports easily. Also marking attendees to track who is attending which events and who is your highest user.
