Powerful and Robust AMS

For our organization, Membersuite is a replacement system for an outdated, proprietary system. Once implmented, the difference in the legacy system and Membersuite was akin to stepping through the back of the magic wardrobe into Narnia. This system has many plusses, not the least of which is that it is almost infinitely configurable to meet the needs of any association, large or small, and also can be customized to the specifications of the user. There are many modules which allow for easy and integrated management of association functions from membership and event management to awards and competitions and certifications and CEU tracking--and more. The financial module allows for easy set up of discounts and special pricing, tiered pricing, and other essentials for associations. A big plus is the customer portal which allows members and customers to manage their own accounts, register for events and purchase products and more. Implementation of Membersuite software has resulted in greater customer satisfaction and has significantly reduced  data errors, increased the accuracy of customer records, and reduced the amount of staff time required to manage customer accounts and information and to register customers for events, manage exhibitors, track inventory and a plethora of other functions. It has also enhanced the image of our organization by allowing seamless integration with our website for customer transactions.

Membersuite provides solid customer support and is responsive to customer needs. During implementation and set up, Membersuite provides in-depth traning and support to make sure the system is conrrectly configured. The open API is a big plus, and it has allowed us to extend the functionality of the system by integrating other platforms already in place. No review would be complete without making mention of all aspects of the software and implementation. Because it is such a robust system with so many options for configuation specific to the user's needs, there is a bit of a learning curve in the beginning which can be challenging. That said, once configuration is completed and modules are set up to the specifications of the user, the benefits of the system are immeasurable. The increase in accuracy of member records, time saved through automated dues billing, customer account management, registration and other daily processes have been profound for our organization.

Almost every step in our implementation with MemberSuite has been a challenge. We transitioned from an old, custom internal system for tracking our organization's membership that was built on relatively simple database software. Our organization structure is not particularly complicated and we didn't have a large amount of data to transition into the MemberSuite platform. The MemberSuite team that managed our implementation lacked even the most basic understanding of our organization and our needs, which were simple and typical for associations of our type, and as a result completely botched our implementation. After months and months of belabored work after launching, we were finally able to get MemberSuite to handle our most basic of needs. Once we looked to build out basic new features and functionality for our members, we encountered problem after problem standing in our way. The support team at MemberSuite has been responsive in general but they can only do so much.

We rolled MemberSuite out in 2015 and have continued to build upon the easy to use integrations through API. After coming from netForum we needed a system that was easy to integrate with other systems (live floor plan sales, paper sales, etc.). After allowing our third-party vendors access to the back-end of MemberSuite they all agreed that it would be much easier and more robust to connect to. We now have integrated all of our other systems fluidly. Live floor-plan sales connected with eShow, our online journal connected with Allen Press and our online technical papers through Metisentry. The SSO and API allow our users to have 1 password to log in seamlessly and access all of our systems. We are excited to roll out HigherLogic's community centers next! MemberSuite has it's growing pains as all AMS seem to have. However, they continue to keep us in the loop on their projects as they continue to grow and revamp.

Our experience has been a rocky one.  Membersuite has been struggling to keep staff long enough to reach a sufficient competency level to provide actual support. -We actually had a staff member delete an entire field in our member database. The system is clunky and inflexible.  And expensive.

I used MemberSuite as a consultant working from home. I did not receive any training from the organization for which I was working. I was able to set up meetings, registration for those meetings, invoicing, etc. with no problem. I think it's a great product.

Short version is that Membersuite has a lot of features that we don't use either because they are half baked or better done in another system. Sometimes I just cant tell if we are using the system wrong or the system is just not good. It is ok at the basics but I have had a hard time wrapping my brain around how Membersuite looks at things. It seems like its designed by a software engineer and not a person who actually manages an association and works day in and day out in the software. They have recently been adding a lot of management staff and seem to be committed to smoothing out some of the issues, I just cant tell if they are ever going to be able to get there. If Membersuite's logic clicks for you, then you will probably really like it. If the logic evades you like it does me, then you will struggle.

We had a rocky start. Come to find out we launched with this new AMS right when they were having their biggest challenges for uptime and performance. Also, the API with Bluepay was broken and double charged all our members. They didn't believe us at first, since no one else complained, then it took another month to fix the issue. We also had promises made in sales cycle that were not true. They said they have an API and worked with one company we wanted to use for an event app. Both not true. We needed the Outlook plugin and that didn't work for some time, and it totally unsupported. It works now, but a bit hit or miss. We had our CEO call their CEO and say we need better performance and attention to bugs and our issues. We asked for a true partnership. There have been some improvements since that time. It's all about finding the right person in MS. We went thru several contacts that were not good, were not helpful and don't understand customer service. So we are on 3rd account manager (last one openly attacked me via email). New account manager is in training. We also found one setting for financials was not done during implementation correctly so for 5 months all our transactions were not classified correctly and could not go into QUickBooks (found 4 months after started with them), now 7 months in they are reviewing all settings as requested. Reality is, you cannot believe what salespeople say. We will only use partners we can test/ use the platform before we switch. There is too much effort in this and cost to not see firsthand exactly what we are getting. Lesson learned.

We have been using MemberSuite for about 1 1/2 years. Like any major change in operating systems (AMS); you can expect some bumpy roads. It took a while for us to get into a position where we were working well with MemberSuite's customer support. Once that was resolved, we have been moving through all of our questions and concerns by having weekly meeting with our customer service representative. MemberSuite seems to be making some big changes in overall structure and usability. We look forward to continuing on this path with MemberSuite.

MemberSuite is a perfect solution for our association and a great value for the money. We just recently went live with the platform and have all our staff up to speed on how to use most of the features. The implementation team was very thorough in getting the platform set up for our specifications and taught us how to create custom fields and customize the customer records, so we can continue to customize the experience for our unique association needs. We transitioned from Abila to MemberSuite in May 2015. The onboarding and training were tailored specifically for our organization and staff. I absolutely loved the one-one Champion training onsite in Atlanta. This gave our key staff to get hands-on training after we had went live. No system will ever be 100% perfect but the thing that we love with MemberSuite is their commitment to customer service. Our first show that we went live our CSM called us everyday onsite to make sure that were not having any issues. It was extremely comforting to know that even on a Sunday they were watching our data and system for trouble. We also love their continued innovations and forward-thinking. We are a very techy staff and require a system to continuously look for better more efficient ways to do things. All-in-all we are very happy with our move and look forward to many years with MemberSuite.

Great Price Value AMS!

We transitioned to MemberSuite's AMS platform last July (2016) and have been going through the expected learning curve and activation of 14 modules over the last 10 months. The AMS platform is extensive and comprehensive and quite good on many levels. As we evaluated various AMS platforms over the course of a year (2015) we determined that MemberSuite was a really good value, with great capabilities, and represented a reasonable investment for an association of our size. We have 10,000 members, 100,000+ member records, 35 Affiliate chapters, a foundation that raises money and an extensive website with content, and products to sell in our online bookstore. We have a very active consulting practice and we do grant work so all of these projects and financial transactions needed to be tracked and recorded in our AMS platform. We do mailings to over 40,000 stakeholders each month and use the email clients that are integrated with MemberSuite to do thousands of monthly marketing emails. MemberSuite experienced a great spike of growth during 2016 and had some growing pains but has responded well and out open items list is growing shorter by the week. MemberSuite also subscribes to the mantra of constant improvement so they are continually in the process of updating and improving their modules on an ongoing basis. We appreciate that and appreciate that we have been asked our opinion along the way so the upgraded modules are made better and better with user input. I can strongly recommend MemberSuite as a very capable system, well priced and undergoing constant improvement. The customer support and response is a strong suite and they continue to work with us to make MemberSuite the best AMS it can be.

I am happy to report that MemberSuite has recently turned a corner. I feel a new attitude emanating from management and applaud the changes they are implementing. Our association moved from YourMembership to MemberSuite in mid-2014. When I hired on a year later, the associationÕs relationship with MemberSuite was strained. Our members were confused and the staff very frustrated. Our implementation of MemberSuite was not meeting our needs. Additionally, we were not receiving the customer service and technical support we needed to improve the situation. In fact, we were left with the impression that as a small association, we were not important enough to MemberSuite for them to work with us to resolve our issues. Thankfully, that all changed when we were assigned a new Customer Success Manager, Candis Kelly, in the Spring of 2016. Candis listened. She understood the situation from our point of view and validated our needs. Candis advocated for us with management and checked in with us regularly. She worked hard to build a positive and effective customer-provider relationship and should be commended. My sense is that MemberSuite management is refocusing on their customers. They recognized they had some big problems and are actively working to resolve them. The relationship between our two organizations has gone from adversarial to supportive. While MemberSuite still has a hill to climb, and as with any system provider, will always have room for improvement, I genuinely feel they are serious about offering their customers a reliable, member-friendly, and affordable AMS.

Our customer service manager was Candis Kelly, and our sincere congratulations go out to Candis on her recent promotion. During her time as our Customer Services Manager she proved to be an invaluable asset. Her responsiveness was second to none. Part of this undoubtedly stemmed from her ability to listen to the client and truly worked to meet our needs. Her contribution, for example, staying late, working with the product team - - allowed my organization to complete month end financials on time and without error, cannot be overstated. Her tireless work ethic and can do attitude made working with Candis a pleasure. While we are unhappy about her transition into a new position; we are truly happy and wish her much success as she starts another journey in proving she is a superstar. She will indeed be missed. Membersuite is a fantastic program that can do so many things and is very easily to work with for the most part. They seem to have a lot of system errors (almost daily) that might interrupt your work and the function for your members. Customer service is also limited unless you demand it.

As a major association management company, we have several AMS partner platforms that we leverage for our clients. We have spent the last 5 years researching AMS system and have found our latest addition, Membersuite, to be an excellent product. Our experiences with their implementation process have been outstanding and their customer service has been very good. The greatest strength of their system has been their APIs. We spend a lot of time integrating AMS systems with other third-party systems such as; LMS, Event Registration, Certification, and Accounting. The Membersuite APIs have made these integrations very easy for us. We currently provide AMS support services for more than 100 associations and we would highly recommend Membersuite.

First Year Struggles with a new AMS

We are completing our first year with a new AMS and most of it was spent in implementation. There have been many struggles along the way some of which were made worse by the condition of our data to be converted. We purchased nearly every module offered and since we went live we have found crippling issues with at least 3 modules, legislative affairs, fundraising and e-marketing. As we prepared to release to our membership one by one issues starting arising. Since we were new customers and unfamiliar with the process we had expectations of issues being presented, escalated and then corrected. It has been very difficult to receive status updates that include any amount of detail to be helpful to inquiring management and members. We chose MemberSuite to have flexibility because of the many ways it can be customized. Some of the original flexibility we thought we would have with multiple membership organizations and business units have not worked out the way presented. We are hopeful that things will improve and some of the outstanding issues will be corrected. Our membership has been very receptive to the change and from their perspective the portal has been easy to use, but could use a few adjustments for those individuals, such as assistant's, who always administer their bosses' accounts. I would very much like to recommend MemberSuite because I think it has great potential, but with all of the issues we have had and not knowing if and when they will be corrected I cannot recommend with a good conscience.

Implementation was very difficult. The admin console is not intuitive and requires a lot of manual data entry due to the way the modules interact. The platform was built by developers with no thought to the admin user or member end user experience. They are not mature in their understanding of association management nor the handling of global memberships.
