iMIS

iMIS is a great tool if you're looking for a membership system and/or registration system for an event. Track member involvement, process payments and message groups based on the members selections all within one platform. 

We implemented iMIS, while at the same time, changed our website face. The staff with ASI made this implementation easy. We continue to have an incredible partnership and have changed our membership processes in a very efficient way. 

I have been using iMIS for over a decade.  In my role as Director of IT I have I have had to deal with using the front end and also supporting the back end.  My experience has been with various versions of iMIS, from 17 (just desktop) to 20 (desktop/wen hybrid) to EMS (which we are in the process of deploying as of now - May 2024)

iMIS is a very feature rich product.  Especially once it moved to the desktop/web hybrid model  It contains all the functionality an association needs, from member engagement and tracking to retail to event management to accounting.

iMIS is a modular system, which allows for a great deal of customization.  With the older versions a strong knowledge of SQL was a great benefit, as that and tools like Access were the best method for querying the data.  All that changed as iMIS developed a very robust tool for querying (called IQA).  In the EMS version IQAs are the only way to query data (though there is now a product from a separate vendor that allows for a great deal of SQL style work), and this has pluses and minuses.  On the plus side, it is very easy to create and modify queries and use them to build dynamic web content (something that was far harder with SQL).  On the downside, IQA can be a confusing tool to learm (especially if you are used to using SQL, as IQAs do not always utilize table names that are immediately recognizable, and examples that ASI creates are predicated on an ot of the box installation, which means that any customization that was done to the 'desktop' version is harder to find in the IQA tool.

One truly great facet of the product is a very powerful web tool that makes constructing websites that integrates well with member records and utilizes a robust permissions-based constraint on who can view and utilize web content..

iMIS also features a feature laden accounting module that can be integrated into Sage (and other products).  As we are in the process of doing so I cannot speak yet as to how well that has worked out.

There is one main drawback to iMIS - it is expensive.  That is to say it is more expensive than several other AMS products that I have looked at.  In its defense, iMIS does have more and better features than many other AMS systems.  But iMIS is still a very large portion of our annual budget,

The Pros:

- It's easy to create and generate a web page with supported iPARTS

- The Support team provides quick and helpful responses

The Cos:

- It's hard to add custom codes  or adjust the out of box iparts

- The page loading speed is relatively slow compared to other SASS applications.

Using iMIS has been a positive experience for our organisation and has made things a lot more efficient compared to before. Now, all of our data - membership information, CPD, training and events - are in the one system and can easily be reviewed, analysed and retrieved. Previously we had data for different parts of the business in different places, and extracting this data was time consuming and inefficient. iMIS is very powerful and there is a lot of potential within the system to automate workflows, extract meaningful data and generally improve the experience for both staff users as well as members and other customers.

As we reflect on our three-year journey with iMIS EMS, it's hard to encapsulate the transformative impact it has had on our organization in a few words. IMIS is a high level SAAS licensed product that takes a dedicated administrator, training and maintenance. You will be impressed with the capabilities, and future solutions. This is not a simple out of the box solution and requires planning, implementation, onboarding. There is a wonderful international users group in addition to the excellent online video training and documentation. It's a well-run system and solution that receives regular updates and maintenance.

I was introduced to iMIS in April 2022 when I started my new job.  My initial impression was that the software was good but appeared to be difficult to use and complicated.

After over a year of use, I am now a Certified iMIS Administrator and better understand the software and the possibilities!

This is a great product that is cost effective and can be customized very easily if a 3rd party product hasn't already been created.

iMIS has a lot of power and potential, covering many of our needs as a member-based NFP organisation. It is very customisable, so when set up well it can be readily customised to the needs of an organisation to integrate with their systems and workflows.

One of the biggest advantages for us is the ability to access and report on any level of data within iMIS, which has made it much easier for us to access the specific data we need for various regular reports. With an investment of time and effort to setup the queries, etc to access the specific data we need, we have saved a lot of time in the long run.

With the many advanced features and high level of customisability, there is a lot of work required to get it setup to suit the organisation specifics, and much of this requires ongoing changes as we have gotten used to the system. While this is also a great thing, it would be a lot more difficult without someone on our team that both understands our needs and is able to implement and develop our setup to match those needs. The marketing email creation and editor is limited and needs improvement.

We have been using iMIS for three years. We began simply and now are starting to make the most of all the functionality that we have.  It is exciting and satisfying to continually improve what we do and have the system in place that lets us do that. We can work on each of our requirements and continue to build on the data we have within a system that also is updated and improved regularly. We appreciate the flexibility within the system and the ability to create what suits us best. We keep track of our members and try to offer them the best information we can as we learn more about them. Our system also keeps the data for the all the contacts we support and we are just completing a second instance of iMIS which we have implemented state-wide that allows us to administer and pay emergency funds as provided by the state goverment.

We just upgraded to the on-premise version of the software.  While the transition has been pretty good, we would like to have more guidance as it relates to maintenance and administration of the product.  Users have commented that the new version flows and looks better than the desktop version.

Our organization has many uses for iMIS, I handle all the actual data being tracked in the system.  It is very easy to create new fields and showcase them in the order that flows best for your look.  As the Membership Coordinator in my organization, I have to manage the the day-to-day aspects of keeping the data base accurate. I don't want to hop around from page to page just to update the data so I was able to have all the data appear on one panel so updating or modifying data is very easy.  As upper management doesn't have time to create reports, I have provided multiple IQA's for them to quickly review data queries to sho: how many overall members, how many representing companies, what membership types have the most numbers, who is on a committee. 

My co-workers are website content and event heavy, I can not really speak to these features as I don't work within them and couldn't give them justice, but I do run the reports for tracking attendees and revenue or our events.

These reports, while at first were daunting, they are simple to learn and create.  I would recommend this product to any membership based organization.

I think overall, it is an okay software to use. There are bugs that need to be fixed and not too tech savvy for certain uses. I think it is great for data entry and tracking, could use a little more updating when using it for content creation and marketing. 

Implemented iMIS 100 professional in 2019 in-house with very little experience in under 6 months. While it was a very stressful implementation in such a short time frame, imis support at the time was very helpful.

The dashboards are great with clear, helpful data and are fully customise-able. Since implementation customer support is not as readily available/supportive but get back to you within a day or two depending on the urgency.

This is a great AMS that can always fulfil your needs, whether they are pulling reports or finding users, I always have my problems solved with iMIS.

I could see that iMIS offer lots of features that i would like to use.
